Taking A Break
So over the past few weeks I have been training pretty hard for my half marathon. I run about 5 or 6 days a week and also do weights and and extreme fitness class. Thursday of last week I was at my fitness class and went to do jumping jacks and was almost brought to my knees from pain in my right foot!!! Felt like a cramp so I stretched it out and just sort of took it easy the rest or the class. It was a little tight Friday so I took that day off from training then went for a short run with Emily Saturday morning. My foot felt fine, until I decided to go to Anthony's fitness class. The same thing happened this time, pain from doing jumping jacks!! UGH!! Really!? I came home and iced my foot and it felt sooooo much better so..... Sunday my dumb butt went for my 6 mile run with Bethany at Shelby Farms. Needless to say after that run I could not put weight on my foot. Smart I know :) SO after some research on the computer, I think I have achilles tendonitis!! Nothing to serious if i take time to let it heal. I guess I have just over done it with increasing my miles and running hills my foot was like "I am done doing this for now. I want a break" So I have listened to my foot and have been icing and elevating it. Can you say BORING!!!! I am ready to get back to working out :) Sounds weird I know. But I guess on a positive note, I feels so much better.

7 More To Go
So not sure if I have told yall yet but April 24, 2010 me , Bethany and some girls that she works with will be running the Nashville Country Music Half Marathon!!!! I can not wait. This will be my second half marathon and some people think that I am crazy, especially my husband, for running 13.1 miles. For me there is something that is relaxing once I get to mile 4 or so. I sort of zone out. I am up to 6 miles so far and knock on wood I am still injury free!!! Weird I know!! The race weekend is going to be CRAZY!!! First there are about 35,000 people signed up to run, it is the best party race, and it is Bethany's birthday!! I think that driving home Sunday is not going to be fun, a bunch of sore tired individuals!!
Another fun thing that I have done is join the Memphis Runner's Club with my friend Cullene. It is the Winter Cross Country Series and it is all trail running :( The first run was just a 3k, lets just say that we did not finish because the trail was not marked very well. The next weekend was a 5k at Stanky Creek. WOW!!! So after a week of rain, lets just say that it was like running through a creek the entire time. We had a blast though. Cullene took a spill and I sank in mud up to my knees!!! LOL. I had to stop and laugh a few times. It has been alot of fun and I am looking forward to February 21 for our 10k at Shelby Farms. Hopefully no mud this time :)
